Wow, what a day!
Less than a 30 minute drive away a fun outing was awaiting us at Eastfork Lake Beach! The weather was perfect-sunny, but not too hot. So we lathered up with sun screen, packed up our lunches, buckets and shovels and headed out!
We met our friends The Dorns there and had a blast! (The kids are still snoozing soundly as I write this at 3pm!)
Just getting in and getting warmed up to the idea of playing on a beach (which my kids have never done before!)…
Castle building, which included a moat :)
Filling and dumping buckets…
Such a sweet girl!
Ty doing some kind of dramatics :)
Running into the water and dunking! What’s funny is that the entire ride out to the lake Ty kept saying, I am NOT going swimming, I’m NOT getting in the water!
A poor little fish that had been dropped by a sea gull…
Marlo and Lizzy having some girl time…
Little sun babies :)
What a day!
Apparently we missed a very special day, National Doughnut Day! What kind of parents would we be if we denied our children of this wonderful celebration?
Marlo chose a “Princess” doughnut of course!
I’ve been letting Ty help out with some basic daily household chores, ones that I feel I can trust him with. Here is an example of his "table setting”…
Here’s our little man in action again, whipping up some store bought, cut and bake fresh chocolate chip cookies!
And of course we have to get some teamwork in there too, here are the sibs making some Caterpillar Bread. No, it’s not actually made with caterpillars…
Step 1: Mix the dough. Two mixers means double the mess.
Step 2: Kneading the dough. Or if your name is Ty, picking up the dough and just throwing it. Likewise if your name is Marlo just gently shove the overly floured dough across the counter, stressing about messy hands the whole time.
Step 3: Arrange dough into Caterpillar shape and WAY TOO GENEROUSLY brush with egg wash. Spill egg wash on floor. The entire bowl.
Step 4: Sprinkle Caterpillar with seeds of various shapes and sizes, and which will be littered about the entire kitchen and be found for days afterward!
Step 5: Eat for lunch. With honey of course!
In non-culinary related news, we joined good friends and neighbors the Thompson’s on Ride The Ducks in Newport…
Seeing the sites of our very familiar city from a new perspective!
I have been listening to those quacking noisemakers ever since. Yay for my ears.
