Oh boy, I have neglected this blog and the only thing I can do to make up for it is to publish an insanely long post. Settle in, folks!
So, TWO whole months ago we celebrated Mia’s Baptism at St. Rose. Of course, it was with Father Barry and he was full of humor and succinct, as always!
With Mia’s Godparents, Aunt Sandy and JD.
Our family of FIVE!
Mia and her Godmother (Great) Aunt Sandy!
Three Generations
With GG and Grandpa Regan
Marlo posing with the cookie she chose, which she thought was a real dress or toy and held it like this for several minutes because she didn’t think she could eat it!
Fruit Thief in action!
Ty’s class field trip to the Tyler Davidson Fountain and Carew Tower
We celebrated Nana’s Birthday with some delicious cookies the kids made, ha!
Oscar’s Garbage Pail Cookies!
Let’s make it a group effort, EVERYONE BLOW!
Hey look at THAT! It’s one of those not so awesome re-lighting candles…
As if we don’t have enough craziness going on around here, we finally decided to take the leap….
…and get ANOTHER DOG!
When we went to the Ramos’ house (the same breeders where we got Banks) to visit the 4 week old puppies, Marlo kept holding each one saying, “I want THIS one.”
This was our final choice…The “upside down” puppy as they liked to call him! He was always upside down, in sleeping and nursing! We liked that quirkiness about him. We were not able to take him home this day, but the kids were getting so anxious that Ty made a paper chain for the countdown to go and pick up our sweet new guy!
Goofing around (which is what we spend the majority of our time doing anyway!) acting like flying/posing/silly Super Heroes!
Um, where did this couple come from? And who are they? (We actually had a late night wedding to go to…and despite either of us having voices and still being sick we managed to pull off a pretty seamless night! The wedding was at 6:30 in Kentucky and the reception followed at Hyde Park CC, so I took advantage of that cross over the river to stop at home to feed and put Mia down and Tom put the older two to bed as well, what a plan huh!?) Thanks to Nana, Aunt Ann and Aunt Alex for staying with the kiddos!
Marzi Marzi Marzi
Love those “boo boos” Marz.
We have completely enjoyed spending time with our great friends the Kileys. Marlo and David were in school together this past year and Ty and Rowan were upstairs (but not in same class). Their momma Wendy and I are kindred crazy spirits and so we have a great time whenever we hang out. Look for our upcoming fame, we’re collaborating on some ventures!…
Would you just look at those buff and tan bodies!
Puddle jumping! Let summer BEGIN!
Cruisin’ in the Escalade
Finally, we got to bring our new little guy home! Welcome to Waterpoint Lane, JJ! **Bonus points to YOU if you know what the J-J stands for!
“Hmm, seems natural. I’ll offer him some grass!” says Ty.
“Or maybe some nice food and water?” (We are definitely encouraging this duty/responsibility as part of Ty’s chores!)
A little romping in the yard…
Some neighborhood girls caught wind of the new pup and decided to come up to “ooh” and “ahh” over him.
Just had to throw in a picture of our skinny little baby Batgirl! (If you guessed that Mia’s thighs are the size of my calves you would probably be correct!)
Having a dog this time around is SOOO much different. I, for one, as the “mama” feel so much different because I already have a “baby” that I’m taking care of, so no baby treatment for JJ from me! He is already a “dog” in my eyes, whereas with Banks I did everything “babyish” with him, just short of pushing him around in a pram and carrying him in a sling!
Also, this time around I have two little (and mostly) willing helpers!
Here they are before school early one morning…they love to put on their boots to protect them from the dewy grass and take JJ out to romp and they ride bikes or whatever…
It’s all fun and games until he starts chasing your feet!
Marlo had to take a little break to show me her twirls and serious faces…
Daddy and his girls!
At Bennett’s birthday party, getting my biceps workout holding my tiny little girl…
On a beautiful Sunday we headed over to GG and Grandpa’s with our FOUR children in tow…
JJ had no reservations about getting right in the pool, which was actually meant for the children!
(And to illustrate how cute this first, Exhibit A, picture is, compare it to Exhibit B.)
Exhibit A:
Exhibit B:
And if I’m gonna have exhibits of old pics, how could I not include THIS???
Exhibit C: (sniff sniff) Notice any resemblance in our canine family members?
Back to our regularly scheduled program…
What a WEIRD shot…
After a full day of romping through the yard, in the pool, and with the kids JJ had to hide WAY under the deck to take a snooze.
The cousins finally did get a chance to play with the water!
Check out those Regan Muscle Men! (And who else loves Ty’s tacky dollar sign necklace!?)
I cannot even believe Mia is 6 months old! And you know what that means? Time for rice cereal. I was kind of nervous because Marlo was the last baby I tried this with and she absolutely HATED it (and all baby food actually). Mia, not surprisingly, took to it quite well. Here is her first try…
And here’s after bite #1…
And here’s her super excited expression! She has the largest mouth in the world!
The first real day of “summer break” we headed up to Eden Park to the Art Museum for their Wee Wednesdays art program for children, and then into the park for a picnic lunch with our friends the Kiley’s.
Ty proudly proclaimed, “I can see New York City!” Yes Ty that is a city, but not New York
Marlo and her sweet boyfriend, David.
Mia hanging out on the grass while the others run around playing with sticks and try not to fall in the pond!
Here are a few pics from the Art Museum…
And this just cracked us up! We were making one last stop in an Ancient African Gallery to see if we could find some cool masks or battling weapons, etc. The boys actually found the only television present probably in the whole museum . It was about 2.5” big, and they were glued to it, ha!
The other hilarious things I couldn’t catch on film from this trip to the museum were some of the comments made when they saw a naked statue or painting. Marlo said at one point, “Look! He’s nakers!” Ty didn’t hold back and just pointed and said, “A butt. Ha.”
And just to further illustrate the sweet little friendship between David and Marzi…
At Rowe Woods Nature Playscape
Just swingin’ at Ault Park
But wait a minute! What’s this?? A different boyfriend?? Marlo and her men! Eli had to get some hugs at the Nature Center too.
Two crazy dudes, Ty and Rowan.
And finally, would you just look at what I did with Marlo? I am certifiably insane. I took her, along with some girlfriends, to get mini pedicures!
Here they are picking out their colors. Marlo did notice some pretty crazy neon colors, sparkly colors and some purples and blues, but she ended up choosing this very, um…old lady-ish mauve color! We were cracking up. She said it was like Briar Rose, so it suited her just fine.
They were so serious!
Well, look for more fun blog posts about our summer fun, coming soon…we’ve already been to Coney Island 3 times!
