On a chilly Saturday morning we headed out to Burger Farm (just like EVERY year!) and took part in more Fall rides, games and activities…
Driving some ATVs (let’s not discuss how many times Ty crashed into the bales of hay!)
Eek!
Braving the maze (they love getting lost in it every year!). And of course Marlo has her trusty pink blow up sword to see us through (sadly that sword didn’t even make it out of the farm, it got a hole in it in a matter of minutes, what a value for our money, ha!)
Will he go in or won’t he???
Yep! And he safely made it out the other side!
Visiting friends in “HalloweenTown” (of course they ran to this familiar set of characters (Disney, naturally!)
Is it just a “boy” thing or what, but Ty had to try and find the BIGGEST most macho looking pumpkin in the whole place. Of course his muscular abilities were not quite up to removing said pumpkin from the farm, but he was ambitious in his search, I’ll give him that!
Good ol’ hugs in the pumpkin “patch”. (Now if that isn’t a forced pose, I don’t know what it is!)
Time for carving…
There’s our scary Jack O’Lantern (don’t you think the mouth makes is SO scary???? That was Ty’s contribution!)
(I told them to give me their “scary” face.)
Next up was a Halloween Party for the kids. And this was such an awaited party, as it required FULL costume! Ty was itchin’ and scratchin’ all day to pull that costume from his closet and get dressed up!
Marlo playing a fun water game followed by a bean bag game (and let me just tell you, the amount of, ahem, CRAP toy prizes we now have in our bags, car, playroom, carseats, etc. is just RIDICULOUS!)
Ty and his best bud Mikey (Oh, pardon me! I mean BLACK BATMAN & BUMBLEBEE!)
Marlo and Lilly hijacking the games and playing their own way :)
Despite these jacked-up looks they only had ONE tiny pumpkin cookie each…but you gotta love that emotion!
Standing in line for balloon creations…
(they almost ALWAYS ask for a weapon of some sort, of course!)
Mikey sharing Marlo’s excitement over her Ariel balloon :)
Like I said. Weapon.
Whew, what a schedule. Saturday Burger Farm, Sunday Children’s Halloween Party and Monday Turner Farm for Ty’s School Field Trip.
This field trip to the farm had been rescheduled from another day (rained out) and just this morning as we were getting ready to leave the sky and weather radar were not looking too promising…sooo, I made an executive decision that it’d probably be cancelled again, so I left Ty home (with Daddy) while I took Marlo to school. Just as I was coming home it was as if someone was playing a joke on me and the skies parted and it was gorgeous and blue and a perfect Farm-Field-Trip-kinda-day!
When we got there we were clearly late and the rest of the class had gone off to other areas of the farm, so we hiked down a gravel road…
We caught them in the sheep pasture, ready to feed them freshly picked turnips. Ty hopped right in there and offered up some of the yummy vegetable (of which he did taste last week in school, ask him his verdict!)…
Waiting on the herd to approach…
“Here, maybe if I wave this leafy turnip in the air they’ll come running…”
Sure enough.
I don’t know if you can tell from this picture like I can (since I know my boy’s mannerisms so well) but he is most definitely opening his mouth wide in either a grin or like a mommy does when she feeds her baby some baby food!
Little man :)
Next, it was time to see some pigs…and feed them the remainder of the turnips.
Our mode of transportation through the farm was a horse drawn hay ride..this is Ty’s MOST EXCITED expression, ha!
Bees. Bzzzz.
All of a sudden, on our hayride, the farmer guide stopped our carriage and told the children to start calling “REGGIE!” very loudly…
This is who came sauntering up…
It’s hard to gauge just how big he is, but that pumpkin was VERY large. He ate it in a few minutes. The fat pig also weighs about 300-400lbs. :)
The whole class. We love Mrs. Ricciardi and Mrs. Hinkle!
Our very last stop was the pumpkin patch. And this was a REAL pumpkin patch :) Check out those clouds looming on the horizon…
Macho. Boy. HUGE PUMPKIN. Like I said.
This was seconds after we got in the car. POURING.
What a great field trip.
And right now, I’m out the door to take Ty to his very FIRST Basketball Practice.
I have my camera. And my sense of humor. Blog to follow I’m sure :)
